M.O. was a poster designed for a high-traffic area at RISD to promote conversation about the upcoming 2008 presidential election. “M” was set in McCain’s typeface choice, Optima while “O” was set in Obama’s typeface choice, Gotham. Tear-off sheets were mounted on the poster, informing viewers about the candidates’ positions on key political issues. Pre-stamped voter registration sheets were also designed to be torn off. Pens were mounted on the wall for viewers to contribute thoughts about the election. The result was a montage of writing and stickers as well as an increase of registered voters.
