Pass It On is designed to be collaboratively executed by hundreds of Providence citizens. This project aims to plant a meme in an offline community (Providence) and track the progress of the message visually online. In April 2009, two hundred notes were placed in the tires of bicycles throughout Providence. The notes express appreciation for the rider choosing alternative transportation, and urge the recipient to log their note on an accompanying website and to pass the note on. By repeating the gesture of gifting, the recipient becomes an active voice in the community.
