We started this project by cleaning up a heavily littered area along our running route. Litter was collected and made into large typographic sculptures, spelling the word “US.” US speaks to our collective responsibility to the environment, but isn’t specific as to scale. It could mean US Providence citizens, US Americans, or US humans. The trash sculpture was hung in downtown Providence, to increase viewership and effectively rid the woods of litter. By displaying the effects of littering, it is evident that each ME is part of a WE.
